Every Tuesday Free Auricular Acupuncture with Sound 8 @1pm & Individual Acupuncture Appointments-3@2:15pm, 3@3:15pm

Free Tuesday Acupuncture Offerings

September 15 – December 15

Did you know that Topkare Hospice partners with Pacific College School of Health and Science Acupuncture Program to offer free acupuncture treatments every Tuesday to members of our hospice and bereavement community?

This fall, we welcome acupuncture student interns under the supervision of Dr. Lathrop to join our hospice community and provide two different acupuncture experiences:

🌿 Option 1: Free Auricular Acupuncture + Sound Experience

Tuesdays at 1:00 PM | 8 group appointments available

This is a shared community treatment using the NADA auricular acupuncture protocol, in which fine needles and ear seeds are placed at specific points on the ears. Everyone receives the same general treatment while relaxing together in a peaceful group setting.

Following placement of the ear needles and ear seeds, Dr. Lathrop and Rebekah Finn will guide the group through a calming sound and relaxation experience that may include reading, guided meditation, breathwork, and live music. Instruments may include crystal sound bowls, harmonium, buffalo drum, koshi chimes, ocean drum, bells, handpan, shruti box, vocals, and more.

Our intention is to create a tranquil, spa-like environment where you can slow down, unplug, and simply be while experiencing the relaxing combination of auricular acupuncture and sound.

🌸 Option 2: Free Individual Acupuncture Treatments

Tuesdays at 3@2:15 PM and 3@3:15 PM | Individual appointments

These appointments provide a more personalized acupuncture experience. Each participant meets individually with an acupuncture student intern, who asks questions about their needs and works with the supervising practitioner to develop a treatment appropriate for them.

Treatments take place in our community setting with soothing music, dim lighting, and a relaxing atmosphere. Depending on the treatment, you may receive acupuncture while sitting or lying down on a comfortable mat with blankets.

Individual acupuncture may be used to support a variety of concerns, including stress, relaxation, pain, anxiety, digestive concerns, and overall well-being.

Additional appointment times may become available as the fall internship progresses.

Who Can Participate?

Priority for both offerings is given to:

  1. Individuals currently participating in our 13-month Bereavement Program

  2. Caregivers and loved ones of patients currently receiving hospice services

  3. Caregivers at facilities or homes where our current hospice patients reside

Community members may also be considered for available appointments or community drawings.

Reserving an Appointment

Appointments are scheduled in advance through Rebekah Finn, Bereavement Coordinator.

Text Rebekah at 858-833-0546 to reserve a Tuesday appointment, ask questions, or learn more.

You may also email rfinn@topkare.com.

Because appointments often fill quickly and we may have a waiting list, please let us know as soon as possible if you are unable to attend so that another person may receive the treatment.

Community Drawing for Individual Acupuncture

If individual acupuncture appointments remain available by the Monday before the Tuesday clinic, we may open those appointments through a community drawing.

To be included in the drawing, text Rebekah at 858-833-0546 with your name, phone number, and how you heard about Topkare Hospice and our free acupuncture program.

Creating a Peaceful Healing Environment

To help maintain a calm, respectful, and restorative space for everyone, please observe the following:

  • Waiver: A waiver must be completed before your first treatment.

  • No phones: Phones must be silenced or turned off before entering the treatment space. No phone calls or texting during treatment.

  • Quiet environment: Please keep conversation to a minimum once treatment begins and remain in your treatment area after needles have been placed.

  • Arrive on time: Please arrive on time. If you are more than 10 minutes late, your appointment may need to be shortened or rescheduled.

  • Check-in: Please check in and wait in the lobby. The acupuncture intern will come to get you when your treatment space is ready.

  • Cancellations: Please provide at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel. After three missed appointments or late cancellations, you may no longer be eligible to schedule future appointments.

  • Respect and confidentiality: Each person's treatment is individualized. Please respect the privacy, personal space, and confidentiality of others and allow everyone to remain focused on their own care.

By confirming an appointment, you agree to honor these guidelines and help us maintain a peaceful and respectful community acupuncture environment.
